the marmoset who shared his lunch
'The Marmoset Who Shared His Lunch' is a fable for all children, young and old.
Marmoset is hungry but something is happening to the rainforest in which he lives and food is becoming scarce. If he wishes to end the day with a full tummy, he knows that he will have to venture away from his home and across the Dust River where many other dangers await; predators who could view him as their lunch for one thing. Being a brave Marmoset, he decides to make the journey, promising himself that he will make it back home before dark.
On the other side of the Dust River, Marmoset finds not only his lunch but makes a startling discovery. The Tree Eaters have moved in to the rainforest and whilst they seem intent upon destroying everything around them, the animals suddenly find themselves dependent upon each other for survival and when Marmoset is the one who has the meal, even his deadliest enemy seems prepared to call a truce.

Unlike 'The Marmoset Who Shared His Lunch', this story is not strictly speaking a fable. There is no moral but once you've read the story I'm sure you'll see that it includes some good advice; whether you're a plough horse or a little boy.
Peggy is a Shire horse whose job it is to pull the plough alongside her friend, Canyon. However, Peggy has grown tired of the work and longs to do something else; she wouldn’t mind having Rebecca’s job which is to pull the trap and a task which for Peggy signals adventure!
Peggy gets her chance when her friend Tom forgets to close the gate to the meadow after visiting the two shire horses with treats of carrots and apples. Whilst Canyon has no interest in leaving, Peggy can’t resist. All she has to do is to put one hoof in front of the other and go through the gate . . . and who knows whom she might meet or what adventures await her on the other side?

two tales
'Two Tales' is the paperback edition combining Charlie's stories of 'The Marmoset who shared his lunch' and 'Peggy & Lost Boy Found'.
In 'The Marmoset who shared his lunch', the animals of the rainforest are facing a new threat as the Angry Monkeys and the Tree Eaters move in; devastating everything around them. Desperately hungry, Marmoset is forced to venture away from his home in search of food. On the other side of the Dust River, he discovers that the larder is stocked no better than his own but a stroke of good luck sees him finally settle down with a lunch he could only dream of having. However, with so many animals suffering at the hands of the rainforest invaders and all as hungry as he, will Marmoset get to keep his lunch?
'Peggy & Lost Boy Found' tells the tale of bored Shire horse, Peggy, who, finding the gate to her field inadvertently left open by her friend, Tom, takes her chance and leaves the meadow where she lives with Canyon. Peggy doesn't see her leaving the meadow as running away but as an opportunity to have an adventure and when she meets Cedric it seems that she has found a like-minded soul . . .
Two stories written to encourage readers to think not only about their own actions but to explore the world around them. This paperback edition is available exclusively through Amazon.

Humblenot and the robin & the sparrow
‘Humblenot and The Robin & The Sparrow’ is a story written by Charlie Forrest for children of all ages. This story introduces the character, ‘Humblenot’, a story-teller, a forest dweller, a human-like creature who may once have been a brave crusading Knight; but he might also have been a dragon handler.
Today, Humblenot is telling the story of ‘The Robin and The Sparrow’ and what happened when Robin flew in from the south for the winter to find Sparrow had been left behind. Being the first Humblenot story, you are introduced to some of the other characters who live in the village: the Constable and the School Mistress feature in this story. The story you are about to read is really three stories in one. We will learn something of Humblenot; who he is and where he lives but more importantly perhaps, of what he does. Within these pages, we join the children of the village as they all gather around Humblenot to listen whilst he tells the tale of ‘The Robin and The Sparrow’; a story where Robin will tell his own tale to Sparrow; the one which explains how all robins came to have red breasts.
Each Humblenot story will reveal more about him and the place where he lives but he will always tell a story. However, his stories won’t always be just for the children because as you will see, grown-ups like to hear his stories too!
‘Humblenot and The Robin & The Sparrow’ is published for Kindle and is available exclusively in the Amazon Kindle Store. The story is also published as a paperback and again, available exclusively on Amazon.
